By Eva J. Hirano

When you pull a muscle you want the recovery time to be as little as possible; hamstring injury treatment is available. Once you have a torn or pulled muscle you are going to have to get plenty of rest. You can reduce the necessity of having to have additional treatment if you get rest, use compressions and ice the swollen area. You should allow at least 36 hours to let the injury heal before you put any weight on it.

With most injuries the first thing that you should do is apply ice to the area; you need to be careful, however, because if you do it too much your skin can be injured and the muscle can become damaged. They say that you should only ice the swelled area for 10 minutes and for no more than 3 times per day; make sure that you elevate the leg as well. This should be enough to take the swelling down and get you back to normal in no time.

Circulation is very important with a hamstring injury treatment. The best thing to do for a torn or pulled muscle is the keep it elevated, iced and put compressions on the affected area. This type of injury is not usually serious and you should be able to fix it easily. However, you may want to talk to your doctor if it gets worse or if you don't see sufficient results; he will be able to instruct you further about what to do.

Assisting your body's natural healing powers, you need to make sure that you follow the above steps. Rest will heal you faster than if you were to walk around on it, ice and compressions will help to keep the blood flowing so that toxins and swelling do not settle at the injury site. If you can keep it raised above the heart, you will see that your swelling will go down faster and you will be up and about faster.

You can resume normal activity once you are feeling better; you don't want to resume normal activities too fast though, because you can reinjure yourself. Walking can help get the circulation moving easier; take your time though;, there is no need to rush. You may no longer see the swelling but it is there and you need to get it down. This can be painful so don't rush to get up too quickly.

Your pulled hamstring is enough pain to deal with but there are chances that you can get another injury when you overcompensate other muscles to make up for the ones you can't use for the moment. One of the other parts of the body that can be affected hurt is the groin; this may lead you to have to have pulled groin treatment. If you obtain the rest that you need for a simple injury, you will be less likely to have it happen again.
