A sample may be a portion, segment or piece that represents the whole unit in population or product. Equally an entity representing a class or a specimen. The different types as used in various aspects are discussed as follows:

In statistics that involves numbers, Defined as a sub set of the entire population. Sampling helps to solve the problem of a population being so large that it may cost a lot to conduct a practical count of the entire population and it may be unpractical to count every unit in a population. Sampling can be complete or unbiased, this can be selected at random or statistical.

Sampling can be used in business world, it refer to free gifts to clients at no cost or subsidized cost, this can be due to the following reasons; in the case of a new product, their use enables potential customers to familiarize with the product, thus a marketing skill used in current business world. For a new firm it helps in conducting market research to budget for production and sales units.

Also used in information technology; in processing different types of a signal, it reduces continuous signal in a suitable discrete signal. A system that take out tries out from continuous signal is called a sampler.

Materials; it implies Special quantity of something that has identical characteristics and similar to the larger amount or unit.This can be countable or uncountable and an exact representative of a specimen. It has among others the following uses; it can be taken to aid in an investigation, analysis or even for testing purpose. Most of them are used for test purpose.

In music, it a sample is taking a portion, of one sound taping and subsequently reusing it as a different sound or an instrument in recording of a song. The far-flung application of sampling music originated with the creation of electronic dance, hip hop and even industrial music. This is done on a sampler; it can constitute hardware or a program.
