Female Body Building: Your Workout Routine

By Kathleen Burch

Because women are not sure they want to have a seriously muscular body, many are afraid to get into female body building. However, there is no need to be concerned. Going further than what you want is not necessary in female body building.

A sculpted, well toned body is a very attractive look for a woman. There are many cases in which this is as far as women want to go. That is fine. If you later decide that you want to take it further and work up to entering contests and taking it seriously, you can.

Female body building is a great way to lose unwanted fat and turn it into muscle. Be aware from the get go that muscle weighs heavier than fat, so you may not necessarily lose weight. What will happen is you may end up with a lean, strong, and sexy body because you'll redistribute your weight.

Making sure the muscles are worked and built evenly is the secret to success with female body building. You shouldn't do the same workout everyday. What you need to do is give your muscles time to recover and build between sessions.

You only need to work any particular muscle group once or twice a week. Meaning, you need to develop a workout routine that will work different muscle groups each day. Make sure that you cover everything without ever exercising the same muscles two days in a row. How many reps you can do or the weight you can lift is not as important as this.

Assuming you want to work out four days a week. If you're a female body builder that's just beginning, then it's enough. Concentrating on intensely working one muscle group at each session will help you see results. A full week of recovery for each muscle group gives them a chance to build really strong.

For 3-4 sessions a week, you can also add some cardio exercises. Starting up with 20 minute sessions and work up to 30 minutes is what you can do. A mistake for female body building is overdoing cardio because cortisol can be increased and breaks down the muscles.

You don't need to be afraid of weights. Picking up a dumbbell won't turn you into Arnold Schwarzenegger. If you want to tone your body, then you need weight and resistance training. It's not limited for the arms. Many back and chest exercises involve weights.

If you have a lot of demands on your time, keeping motivated is a challenge. You will find, of course, that when you are fitter and stronger you can actually pack more into a day. You will have more energy and more of a positive outlook. Remind yourself of that any time that you are beginning to think that you do not have the time to go to the gym.

Drink plenty of water during your workout and the rest of the day too. Don't forget to take care of your nutrition as well. That's essential not only for fat burning but also for effective female body building.
