These are meant to supplement diet and provide the body with the right amount of minerals, amino acids, vitamins, fiber or fatty acids it may be deficient in. In certain parts of the world, such pills are categorized as food. However, in most others, they are considered health products or all-natural drugs.

Basically, the products are used to replace what is missing in the body or is not present because the diet does not include specific foods. These are not to be used in place of natural product or health eating. They may be helpful to people who have allergies to certain foods or other health conditions that make them deficient in something, despite a proper diet.

This type of product is often used in bodybuilding, as well as the athletic industry as a whole. In these situations, the formulas are used to replace meals. They can also be utilized to help initiate or promote weight loss or weight gain. Either way, the purpose of them is to improve the athletic performance of the user. It is common for these to include meal-replacement products, protein, testosterone boosters, creatine, vitamin supplements, essential fatty acids, weight-loss products, and glutamine.

These can be sold in bulk or individually. The basic formula of these products is available at most stores. Complex blends may be available in limited quantities at certain health or online stores. The products are often manufactured in liquid, powder or pill form. Typically it is dependent on the ingredients in the blend. Prices are also known to differ based on factors such as formula and supplier.

In America, products are given this title based solely on their ingredients. That is, they must be designed to improve diet or nutrition of the user. They must also include one or multiple of the following: substance to supplement diet, herb or botanical, amino acids or vitamins. It should also have a concentrate, extract, constituent, metabolite or a combination of these components.

These should be used with the specific intent to ingest the powder, pill, liquid or capsule. They must not be presented as traditional food or as the replacement for meals in a diet. The product must be labeled as a dietary supplement for consumers.

Supplements are employed all around the world and are commonly used in the fields of health and athletics. These are designed to provide a specific combination of amino acids, vitamins, fiber, minerals and fatty acids the body may be without. This kind of product is not to be used as a replacement for regular food or meals.
