Chances are excellent that you have experienced at least one headache in your life. But of course there are headaches, and then you'll find migraine headaches which are different. I had a period when considerably younger, and I used to get migraines approximately once a month. I am so grateful they stopped given that they were exceptionally painful. It is somewhat interesting that headaches, and particularly migraines, are not entirely understood by the medical community. There are quite a few reasons for this not the least of which is many people can respond to and feel pain in different ways. But that is only one small aspect of a large and intricate picture.

However, just like with so many topics in medicine, a lot is known about migraine headaches. This kind of headache is occasionally referred to as a vascular headache. Seemingly either very low as well as high temperatures may encourage a migraine event. Then there could be other factors such as deficiency of amounts of various physical needs linked to eating and sleeping. Just like with so many other medical problems, there are certain triggers that appear to influence this condition. Another reason for a migraine can be excessive and chronic levels of stress.

There continues to be research regarding the special attributes of migraines such as the fact they build up more slowly than other headaches. However, that is just an additional clue concerning migraines, but every piece of the puzzle helps. Every bit of knowledge can provide some kind of clue. Some migraine patients appear to possess a genetic predisposition since you can find migraines in the family tree. However, genetics is not associated with everybody, and so that is one more facet that has to be looked at.

For women, there may be a connection with hormone variations and migraines. In fact, prevalence of migraines have been documented during the times just before or after the menstrual cycle takes place. It is recognized that estrogen diminishes quite a bit during those time frames. Further periods of hormone variations consist of menopause and of course pregnancy. As you might be thinking, there can be some who have higher frequency of migraines at those times. It could be interesting to note that the technique known as HRT, hormonal replacement therapy, can make migraines worse than they already are. An additional aspect that really does not help with understanding is that just isn't seen in every female who gets migraine headaches.

There's a wide variety of migraine inducers such as music that is too loud, or overly bright lights, and even common odors from chemicals and other every day smells. So there is no obvious single cause that might be pinpointed with this affliction. Still there are physical factors with some people including intensive physical exertion of pretty much any kind. The precise reasons for these headaches is a tough condition for researchers to understand.
