Many people don't have time or money to go and have a session or two in a sun bed. Not to mention that it is very hazardous to one's health. Many are now opting to have a spray tan done instead. It is quick and easy and can be done in half the time it would be to have the same thing done on the bed.

There are so many different products on the market today that one is able to get the tan product and do it yourself. Whatever type of skin you might have there is a product that will work best for you. Have a look at the box if you are not sure which solution to use.

A sun tanning bed is a machine that emits ultraviolet radiation that will then produce a cosmetic tan. The normal bed will contain about seven fluorescent lamps that have phosphor blends. The spa beds can contain about 24 to 60 lamps, each with 100 to 200 watts. The home and smaller versions have about 12 to 28 lamps at 100 watts. A tanning booth is similar to a tanning bed, but with this one the person will be standing and the power output is higher.

The effect of the UV radiation can cause skin cancer, cataracts, premature skin aging as well as causing your immune system to become suppressed. This is why the World Health Organization no longer recommends this device. Many of these mainly emit UVA rays and this has been found to increase the risk of melanoma, which is one of the deadliest forms of skin cancer. Those that have used this and not worn goggles have reported having arc eye, or snow blindness.

The sun beds were first brought to America by Friedrick Wolff in 1979 and were regulated by the Food and Drug Administration. In 1986 these were then amended and the lamp compliance was included to warn people and to ensure that eye protection was used. The main reason this law was designed was so that all salons that used them would have to follow a set of general rules. There was to be a certain time period that one could remain inside and that sanitization was to be implemented.

If your elbows and feet are very dry, message a little cream in before applying. The dryer the skin is the darker the tan will appear making it look unsightly. If you are a little worried about leaving streaks or missing spots, try applying a tan moisturizer. This will make your skin darker the more times it is applied.

Use this product before your appointment. It can be applied after your shower or just moisten the skin with water. Apply in a circular motion all over the body and rinse thoroughly. It will remove any impurities and oils the skin produces for a fresh and clean finish.

There are even body washes that can boost your tan while you shower. Most soaps and body washes tend to make your tan fade every time you use them. Spray tans are quick and do not cost an arm and a leg to have it applied. It will leave you feeling like a new person ready to handle whatever the world throws at you.
