Breast Reduction As A Medical Procedure

By Janine Hughes

This procedure concerns the removal of some of the tissue and skin from the breasts of a lady in a bid to make them appear smaller in size, gain more shape and eventually look more attractive. This is often the case for those ladies who feel like their breasts are very large hence effecting their self-esteem. This article contains all information concerning breast reduction.

This procedure is done in the hospital and it is a surgical procedure. The surgeon first marks the parts to be worked on then with the help of his tools makes several cuts on this organ. This helps him remove excess tissue and fluid and after this is done he stitches it up and behold something new is created. Sometimes he even goes as far as taking the nipple out and repositioning it.

Before the procedure is carried out, the doctor first examines the patient to find out what procedure is to be carried out. This is because there are some patients who do not suffer from extra skin but they are affected by a lot of extra fat. In this case this fat is just sucked using tubes and hence the size is eventually reduced.

There are times when the procedure just involved lifting of the breasts. This usually is in the event where the only condition of these organs is the fact that they appear to be low and sagging, in this scenario they are just given a push and made to be firm and erect, this leaves the patient feeling very confident in herself.

There are several things to be expected after such a procedure. One may experience some pain which is not very severe but the doctor is aware of this and goes ahead and prescribes medication in advance. The area may be sore but this also takes a short period of time. Time span for recovery is between one to two weeks.

If there is one thing in the world which ladies dread most is marks on their bodies. They would do anything to get them off; unfortunately, carrying out this process comes hand in hand with marks on the breast. At most cases they are small and fade but the bad news is that most of them are permanent.

This process is done mainly so that the women can be able to feel comfortable in their own bodies. Large heavy breasts are usually a huge discomfort and may even cause back pain. They are also a limitation to some to the sporting activities as women with very large ones find it very hard to take part in some of the games.

In summation of the above, this is a very important process although at times it may be very expensive. The results of this surgical procedure are permanent. However, one may expect them to grow in size either during pregnancy, during the gaining or losing of weight. Risks include the leaving of scars which can fade over time and in case they are not of the same size one can have the procedure re-done.
