Lifelong Fitness - Are You Willing To Make The Commitment?

By Vanessa Summer

Finding somebody who has maintained an excellent fitness level during their entire life is hard to do. You can find people who have never made health and fitness a priority in their lives and then there are individuals who used to be physically fit but have become less active as time has passed. They may have a different way of living now or they may just think that they are too old to actually be fit anymore. Keeping fit offers you many health advantages and can help you to feel younger and full of life for a long time. In the following paragraphs we will look at why keeping fit is important at the various stages of your life.

While you grow from childhood into your adolescent years, your body is developing and you are also building habits that are crucial for the remainder of your life. There are several distractions these days including game consoles and easy fast food, so it is important that sport and exercise is still considered to be a priority for a young person. If you have children in your life, you can show them the importance of fitness with your own actions, and you can also devote time to letting them participate in athletic pursuits themselves.

As you leave your teen years behind, you're going to be responsible for your own well being and from the ages of twenty to forty, you have the chance to test yourself physically and to aim for peak performance. In contrast, you may also elect to let your physical health go as you spend time in other enjoyable pursuits, and this can be the beginning of a lifestyle that is less than optimal for your body. Needless to say, absolutely nothing is wrong with having a great time but you should be sure to make time for physical exercise as well.

During your 40's and 50's, you are going to almost certainly have other goals to consider. It might be that certain sports activities are no longer possible to commit to with your lifestyle and you may have time constraints that you see as a reason not to keep fit. In reality, time for exercise is there if you make it, and it could be a huge boost for other aspects of your life. It can help to replace stress with a feeling of more energy and can be a good escape from a number of the worries you may have in your life.

When you reach the age of retirement, it is easy to feel that being physically fit is out of the question. This is in reality the reverse of the truth because you can actually slow down the process of aging by keeping your muscles and bones sturdy. You may need to modify the kind of exercise you do and switch to a gentler technique like Tai Chi. However, strength training has been proven to help reverse some of what we take for granted when we age although it always make sense to take medical advice before undertaking any new fitness regime.

You can add more life to your sunset years when you're ready to put physical fitness first as you move through life.

And now, you may also want to include natural dietary health supplements to improve your overall health.
