Identifying Permanent Hearing Loss Symptoms

It's fine to bar your girlfriend's irksome voice once in a while, but you may have a problem that needs to be addressed if you are totally unable to hear it. Stop assuring yourself that you just like turning up the volume of everything. Admit it, you are experiencing hearing loss. You better do something about it before it's too late.

For those in the baby boomers stage, or those drawing near the retirement age, loss of hearing is not uncommon. A lot of people belonging in this age experience a decrease in their hearing capability. Depending on how serious the situation is or how dedicated one in doing something about it, deafness can be prevented or reduced.

Younger generations also experience symptoms that lead to deafness. It is either obtained during early childhood or picked up as they grow up. And we all know how children and not-so-young kids lose their hearing. Some causes include self-inflicting the symptoms on themselves, although inadvertently. Having unhealthy diet and poor hygienics, and listening to loud music are just some of it.

If you already can't hear anything, you most certainly know that you've lost it already. Permanent hearing loss isn't acquired instantly, though. Unless one obtains it through an accident. You will get hints that you are drawing close the loss of your hearing before it becomes total.

Hearing muted sounds is one of the symptoms. Maybe you have difficulty hearing your mother scold you, which is impossible because she exclaims every word. Maybe this is just a one-time problem. Maybe you just happen to have a cold or an ear infection or other illness. But this may lead to a permanent deafness if you experience this on a regular basis.

Some people have a habit of turning up the loudness of their TV or iPod in an incredible level While it seems insignificant today, that may not be the case to you. If you think you turn up the volume not because you want it that way or because you just got used to it, then you may be doing it because you need to hear it. If that is the case, then possibly your hearing is already damaged.

Another identifier is if you have a problem distinguishing the main talking voice from the setting noise. This symptom is one of the most distinctive symptoms of loss of hearing. When you have a difficulty picking out the voice of the person who is speaking to you from the rest of the noise of the room, then you have a hearing problem.

Are you hearing a constant humming sound? That annoying ringing sound that doesn't seem to go away when you want it is called tinnitus. Many people who who tinnitus also lose their hearing later on.

If you are feeling any of the above symptoms, don't hesitate to go to an Ear Nose Throat doctor or an otolaryngologist.. Don't let the situation aggravate. Your hearing may still be saved if a doctor can treat it as soon as possible. In any case, an ENT doctor would know the soundest way to prevent or cure deafness. And even though not all are treatable, hearing aids and other technology can assist you.
