Is There A Proven Cure For Genital Herpes?

By Broderick Hooper

The question, is there a proven cure for genital herpes, has been circulating for as long as people have been suffering from this sexually transmitted disease. The answer is always the same, not yet. There are, however, a lot of treatment options available for those who are suffering and with the right actions; a person suffering from genital herpes may live a full, normal life between their flare-ups.

An individual suffering from genital herpes could seek treatment from his/her physician who might prescribe different drugs or creams, or someone could go the open market route and try one of the hundreds of different magic potions available through the Internet. No matter where the medication comes from, the end result is to deal with the blisters and the pain that accompanies them.

A breakout or flare-up of genital herpes looks like large blisters or pus filled sores and they will appear on a man or a woman who carries the herpes virus. One individual can pass the virus to another even if they are not experiencing the blisters at the time of sexual contact because sometimes they are at the beginning of their symptoms and they are not fully developed yet, therefore it is hard to tell.

Many people will search the Internet and ask in chat rooms, is there a proven cure for genital herpes? Some people will say they have found a cure, although it is only a treatment for their symptoms, from a certain drug company. There are also home mixtures that people come up with in order to help with the pain. Scientists are busy working out a way to help those who are suffering, but with nearly all diseases, they are close to a cure but have yet to come up with the right combination.

Many nutritionists and doctors agree that an unhealthy lifestyle will add to a person's flare-up of painful blisters. For example, they say that stress, fatigue and a poor eating regimen with a lack of exercise will bring a dormant virus to the service. It has been proven that even people with healthy lives will experience the pain of pimple-like lesions and whether a person's lifestyle is healthy or not, they should have protected sex at all times. One fact remains true and that is, that as a person with genital herpes ages, the breakouts seem to happen less often, although, the ones that do happen are more painful.

Treatments for genital herpes include creams and ointments, both of which are a soothing greasy mess but seem to help with the pain that accompanies the rash. There are also pills that seem to attack the virus from the inside out. Most herpes medications are a combination of antibiotics to control the virus, anti-inflammatory medications to help with swelling around the affected areas, and a dose of an anti-fungal to help keep the pimple like lesions from spreading.

The best treatment for genital herpes would be one that is easy for the individual to follow and that works on their outbreaks. They will still be asking their doctor, is there a proven cure for genital herpes and until there is a cure; their doctor will have to answer with a no. However, their doctor will be able to help them through the tough times of breakouts and pain with various treatment options.
