Hemorrhoids Treatment - Finally an Effective Solution

By Dennis Banks

Also referred to as piles, hemorrhoids are venous blood vessels in the rectum and anus that have become inflamed and distended. They are a common problem usually occurring later in life caused by a poor diet, obesity and other reasons they may also occur in the young, even children.

Two types of hemorrhoids are possible, external and internal. A lot of people have the internal type and are unaware of it. Internal hemorrhoids cause painless bleeding which shows up in the toilet after a bowel movement. The external type is the most bothersome and are often very painful. The symptoms include irritation on and around the anus, itching and severe pain in the rectum.

Common causes for hemorrhoids...

* Straining and constipation.

* Poor western diet high in fats.

* Sitting for too long in the one position.

* Not exercising enough.

* Periods of severe or extended coughing.

* Pregnant women are highly prone.

* Improper Manual lifting of heavy objects.

* Excessive smokers are at higher risk.

* Obese people are more at risk.

* The Elderly people are more susceptible.

You can try any or all of the following measures for treatment.

Taking a sitz bath about 15 or 20 minutes will do a lot to give relief and reduce swelling. Use like warm and bath the region 3 or more times per day. You can also apply ice wrapped in a soft cloth. Apply a hemorrhoid cream or ointment as advised by your pharmacist/doctor.

Natural Remedies Are The Most Reliable

To prevent hemorrhoids you should make sure not to get constipated nor strain when going to the toilet. Drink ample water. At least 6 to 8 glasses per day. Eat a high fibre healthy diet. Fiber is indigestible so will bulk up the stool and allows it to absorb water making it soft allowing easy passage from the body.

Hemorrhoid Treatment Success Tips

For treatment to be successful address the symptoms first to get some relief and then make life style changes to prevent re-occurrence. If this is your first bout of the condition then you need to take notice. This is your opportunity to be proactive. Take action to prevent this condition from being a real problem. If you don't treat it properly it is likely to get far worse. You don't want this problem to get to the point where you will require surgery.

Surgery Should Be Your Last Consideration

According to one clinical study, 41 percent of advanced-stage hemorrhoid sufferers were not happy with the outcome of surgery. (source: Surg Endosc. 2008 Nov; 22(11):2379-83. Epub 2008 Jul 12.)

Even after surgical removal, there is no guarantee that your hemorrhoids wont re-appear. The hemorrhoids can still come back and you would be faced with the same thing all over again.
