Quick Relief For Your Eye Strain Problem

By Marlo Gino

Technology has provided us with a lot of gadgets which entice our sense of sight with vivid imageries which maybe work related or simply for entertainment pleasures. Televisions and computer screens, for example, win every time we struggle to focus our eyes on them - they get our precious attention and we get eyestrain in return. Headaches and itchy eyes are its common symptoms. Be relieved of these by following the simple tips to prevent computer eye strain below.

If you are looking for the fastest way of getting rid of that eye strain of yours, then that would be simply taking a break from using the items mentioned earlier. Just like with the rest of our body, often what we only need to get back on the right track with our health is to just take a break from whatever it is that stresses us.

Are you not allowed to take frequent fifteen minute breaks? That is not common in most offices, but that does no mean you can not stop for a few seconds and just stare at a less stressful sight in your office. That would certainly help.

Building strong eye muscles also prevent eye strain or computer vision syndrome. Exercising your optical muscles is very easy and will not take much of your time. Simply close your eyes firmly for a few seconds and open them slowly. This may be repeated four to five times. It may also be accompanied with deep breathing. Moreover, dampening your closed eyes with a warm washcloth can give added relaxation effects.

Often staring in front of the computer screen for extended hours each day is the main cause for most computer eye strain problems. And this can be remedied by adjusting the contrast of your computer monitor, adjusting the size of the fonts so you do not have to squint, or making your room brighter.

Non-gloss screens and anti-glare screen covers are to consider when simple breaks do not do anything with your eye strain. Positioning your computer screen at 90 degrees angle to any light source can cut down the harmful glare. Wearing anti-glare eye glasses could be very handy too.

And here is something that I think everyone of us should do, and that is to take a vacation. Not just a day or two of time off from our jobs, but at least a five-day retreat some place that we find relaxing or exciting. When we do not have to work or feel the pressure of it, sometimes our health problems diminish.

Eye strain is part of our daily lives. However, keeping in mind and practicing the habits given you can prevent eye strain from torturing your sense of sight. You may want to try on some computer reading glasses to help relieve the stress.
