How A NYC Chiropractor Explains Nutrition Response Testing

By Dr. Louis Granirer

Before telling you how a NYC chiropractor explains Nutrition Response Testing, it is important to understand the philosophy of chiropractics. This form of alternative health care practices holistic healing with a focus on the musculoskeletal and nervous systems. A wide variety of injuries and pain can be addressed.

Chiropractors are mainly consulted by people who suffer with a number of musculoskeletal problems. These include sports injuries, pinched nerves, hip pain, shoulder pain, neck pain, migraine headaches, and herniated discs. Chiropractors are also very aware of how nutritional imbalances can affect a person's health. Because of the stress and strain of modern-day living, many of us neglect our nutritional needs.

In order for the human body to function at its peak, it needs to be fed the right foods. Many of us think we are eating correctly when, in fact, we are not. Even if we eat healthy foods, we may not be getting the balance right. This can cause symptoms of a nutritional imbalance.

These may include migraines or other headaches, fatigue, high blood pressure, heart problems, stress, weight gain, and others. Nutrition Response Testing (NRT) is the non-invasive way to determine if there is a dietary imbalance. When this has been established, a chiropractor is able to devise an eating plan that includes certain supplements.

NRT is a relatively new method which provides an insight into the body's own 'computer' to detect any deficiencies. This is done through acupuncture points, muscle testing, and neurological reflex testing. It is basically an offshoot of Applied Kinesiology, which is a diagnostic system used by medical physicians, chiropractors, naturopaths, acupuncturists, homeopaths and other alternative health care practitioners.

The basic premise is that the body operates through a network of chemical and electric signals. They are sent from and to the brain by the nervous system and the spinal cord. All organs are controlled by the brain and the nervous system. Furthermore, every muscle is controlled by, and connected to, the nervous system.

If a breakdown in this messaging system occurs, muscles will become weak. While NRT uses a lot of Applied Kinesiology's testing principles, its diagnostic methods are different. NRT carries an underlying principle that a nutritional imbalance can cause many unpleasant symptoms. When the problem has been pin-pointed and the body's computer is back on track, the symptoms can clear up naturally.

Let's say the chiropractor detects active reflexes in the liver or kidneys. With his or her comprehensive knowledge about nutrition, the patient can be given an individualistic dietary plan to follow. This will include specific supplements. When the balance is corrected, the reflexes will become strong and the kidneys or liver are able to work properly, thereby improving health.

NRT can be beneficial for many medical problems. These include fungal infections, weak immune systems, food allergies, fatigue (chronic, extreme or severe), digestive problems, skin problems, and parasite infestations. It can be defined as an investigation of certain parts of the body's surface to identify an imbalance which can be corrected with an appropriate diet and supplements. This is what is meant when a NYC chiropractor explains Nutrition Response Testing.
