Even though quiche is associated with the French, and is in fact a classic French dish, it originally was created in Germany. In German Kuchen means cake and thats how the word Quiche originated. Quiche has now spread to other countries and is a well liked dish the world over.

After the second world war, the recipe became popular in UK, and in the US in the 1950's. At the start it was mostly a vegetarian recipe. Improvisations to the recipe now feature a array of ingredients including meat such as ham, shelf or bacon.

INGREDIENTS 1 round pie crust unsweetened Two cups of broccoli florets One onion which is scraped and chopped One tablespoon of olive oil 1 cup of frayed cheese Four eggs 1 1/2 cups of whipping cream One pinch of powdered nutmeg Salt and Pepper

DIRECTIONS Start off by making the crust for the purpose of blind cooking. Be certain to fit this crust to a tartlet pan of 10 inch and then prick through this with fork tines at roughly fifteen places. Then place the pan in a freezer for about 20 min whilst you preheat the oven to a temperature of 400F.(When you rest the crust in a freezer, it prevents it from bubbling or slipping while baking)

Then you may take the crust and put it directly in to your hot oven cooking it for about 10 minutes till it turns into a nice golden color. Remove this from the oven and allow it to cool for around 12 min. You can later switch your oven downward to roughly 375F.

Then the broccoli could be steamed for three min inside a microwave. Make sure it is just about a little soft. Keep a watch and see that it is not over steamed as you might lose the flavor of the vegetable.

Preheat the olive oil on a non-stick small skillet at a average flame. Then add the onion diced to cook, stir it occasionally to ensure the onion is soft enough and it could take about 5 min or a little more.

Put the onions and the steamed broccoli evenly on to the bottom part of the chilled crust. Shower some cheese on top. Place this pan in to the oven and cook it till it is done for around 35 minutes. Your meal is ready to serve.
