Improve Vertical Jumping with the Right Exercises

There are certain muscles that you need to work on to improve vertical jumping. Whether you want to get ahead of anyone else in high jump or excel in basketball, work on a few specific muscles and achieve success.

There are several schools of thought on how to improve vertical jumping, which can actually make it difficult for someone to improve vertical jumping successfully. Fortunately, many of the techniques that you will find online will work for you in terms of getting your vertical jump as high as possible. As long as the process is about increasing the strength in your legs, feet, stomach and your back, then your program will be a success.

You can do squats to improve vertical jumping. This can be done without any equipment such as weight or rack, or you can go for rack if you have access to it. You can even use your own weights placed on shoulders. In squats you have to get into a squatting position and then standing up. If you use weights or racks, you are putting extra resistance into the exercise that will toughen your body core helping your vertical jumping skills.

Apart from squats, elevated jumps also help to improve vertical jumping. For elevated jumps you require to use an aerobic step, particularly one where height can be gradually increased to set progressively increasing challenges as your body becomes stronger. Elevated jumps are great not just because they teach you how to jump higher but also because they help strengthen muscles that are critical for improving vertical jumping.

Doing an elevated jump requires you to start with an aerobic step and then jump in backward direction. The moment your feet touch the ground, you have to immediately get back onto the step. To improve vertical jumping you may follow this exercise for as many times as you can, but beginners are advised to start with ten steps and gradually increase. In your effort to improve vertical jumping you must be careful to set realistic targets and not jump too high, and thereby hurt yourself in the process.
