Looking for a Career in Heath Care which isn't a Doctor or Nurse?

Ever thought that helping people would give you great satisfaction within your job, then becoming a pharmacist may be the perfect job for you. If you are interested in being in the healthcare sector and not really wanting to go down the doctor or nurse route then there are several different pharmacist jobs available for you today. The spectrum for jobs in pharmacy is so much broader than the stereotypical serving behind the counter, it branches out into many different fields even drug research.

You do need to train in the right fields for a job in pharmacy; it may really help if you have a degree in pharmacology from a recognised college or university as the nature of the job is very scientific and you definitely need to know your stuff as it will effect people's lives. Depending on your degree it may influence which sector of the industry you wish to go into say for instance if you want to go into the research of drugs you would definitely have to be knowledgeable in the scientific approaches taken to develop these drugs.

The most popular image or ideal of a pharmacist is a pharmacist who works in the retail section often found next to a doctors giving out prescriptions to treat the patients illness. There is much more to the role of the retailer however as they can advise customers on their medication and what is best for them. If a customer for some reason isn't taking to their medication the pharmacist may often have an idea as to why and suggestions on what to change in their medication.

A lesser known field which provides jobs for pharmacists is the home care professional, basically the duty of these are to visit people's homes who are not capable of picking up and taking their prescriptions themselves, the home care professional looks after patients and even mixes the drugs if they need to be, this can provide great job satisfaction knowing that you have helped an ill persons day become easier for them and even helping eventually to cure them.

These are just a few examples of the careers available in pharmacy, and there are many more fields that you can delve into helping change people's lives for the better.
